School of Natural Sciences & Mathematics

“Mathematics is the most beautiful and most powerful creation of the human spirit.”

Stefan Banach

Our Department is a diverse and vibrant academic unit, which is one of the foremost in the university in both undergraduate and graduate education. With about 50 full time faculty and staff members and almost 100 supported graduate students, the Department is actively engaged in outstanding research in Pure and Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Biostatistics and Data Science. It hosts a nationally acclaimed program in Actuarial Science. Our students eagerly participate in national contests. Just last year our team ranked 18th at the Putnam competition out of over 550 colleges and universities in the U.S. and Canada.

We are enthusiastic about the Mathematical Sciences and we are proud of the quality of education, research and services we provide. We invite you to become part of this family. You can explore our web site to learn more about us, our programs, degrees and activities.
